The Techvengers Camp was offered to 4th – 8th graders to learn new skills and technologies. The week-long summer
Technology and program provided students the opportunity to create websites, learn coding, experience artificial intelligence and

Helping Educators Integrate Technology
into Their Curriculum
Educators often turn to SCOE’s Educational Technology Center to
learn how to integrate technology into their curriculum. Staff provides
professional development in technology integration, technology skills
classes, teacher coaching, and customized onsite training to educators
countywide. This department also provides technology trainings and
support to classified staff and administrators throughout the year.
Technology and Learning Resources (TLR) staff hosts the annual
Educational Technology Conference, (ETC!). Last year, approximately
1,000 educators converged on California State University, Stanislaus
to learn how to integrate technology into their teaching and learning
strategies, showcase best-practices, and collaborate with fellow educators
to enhance student achievement. An annual conference, ETC! 2019 is
scheduled for Saturday, February 23, 2019, at CSU Stanislaus and will be
the 20th annual conference event!
SCOE’s TLR division provides direct technology support services
to districts in many areas. Graphics & Media Services provides graphic
design, printing and media services. Information Systems provides

ISS teams lead district teams through new curriculum, hands-on instruction, and
integrated instruction that make learning more purposeful and connected for students.
“More and more curriculum is being taught with a real-world, hands-on approach,”
said Lisa Tiwater, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Support Services, “There is
a need to assure that students understand the whys and hows of what they are learning,
and that begins with teachers understanding that as well. Teachers appreciate the
opportunity to come together with grade level peers and teachers from other districts
to expand their knowledge.”
Credentialing and supporting teachers new to the profession also falls under
the ISS division. New teachers and administrators clear their preliminary teaching
and administrative credentials by going through SCOE’s induction programs. These
programs allow educators to show their growth and competence in program standards,
while being paired with a mentor coach over the course of two years.
Instructional Support Services also supports students in various ways across the county.
ISS overseas the State Seal of Biliteracy, the County Science Faire, the county-wide Arts
Show, Lego Camps in the summer, the Makers’ Hoopla and Dinner with a Scientist.
