A LETTER FROM THE
SUPERINTENDENT
The Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) is committed to
ensuring every child in the county receives a high-quality education.
We realize the foundation for a lifetime of learning starts well before
a child enters kindergarten. Our excellent early childhood care and
education programs provide children with safe and supportive
environments in which to develop language, literacy, and problem-
solving skills they will need to succeed in school and life.
Additionally, our programs help our youngest learners develop
healthy habits and positive attitudes about school while engaged in a
setting that supports their family, home language, and culture.
The research is clear, ever dollar invested in high-quality early
childhood care and education yields a tremendous return on
investment by savings in special education, the criminal justice
system, and public assistance. This is why SCOE has devoted the
entire Child & Family Services division to meeting the needs of our
youngest, most at-risk, and vulnerable community members. We
recognize the road to a high school diploma and beyond is rooted in
a high quality early education experience beginning in the first five
years and we appreciate the support of our families in this endeavor.
As I complete my second year as your Stanislaus County
Superintendent of Schools as Chairperson for the Head Start
Governing Board and the Central California Migrant Head Start
program, I am proud of the work being done to educate children,
support parents, develop professionals, and impact communities. I
am looking forward to 2021 and the year ahead as I applaud our
outstanding outcomes as we bring 2020 to a close.
