A LETTER FROM THE
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
It is with tremendous pleasure that I share with you the 2020 Child
& Family Services (CFS) Annual Head Start and Early Education
Report – a year that was like no other we have seen before as we
worked together with stakeholders to manage the effects of the
global pandemic as a result of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus. As
we review the outcomes achieved during the last program year, I
would like to commend our students, parents, Policy Councils, and
Governing Boards, as well as our Delegate, Partner, and Grantee
staff members for: focusing on health, safety, and community;
continuously improving our services and systems; ensuring that
together we meet our mission of excellent services; and, providing
high-quality child development programs, services, and supports
throughout our diverse communities and across our eight (8)
county service region.
School Readiness for children depends a great deal on having
engaging and meaningful experiences at home and rich, stimulating
environments at school, even if through a virtual format.
Additionally, key ingredients to success are instructional staff, in
partnership families, who are responsive to children’s interests,
individual needs, and cultural and linguistic backgrounds. CFS took
that to heart this last year as we provided high-quality services to
approximately 8,600 children and their 6,700 families who
experienced exceptional outcomes.
Together, moving forward into the 2021 year, we stay dedicated to:
health and safety, resilient relationships, and programming that is
rooted in effectiveness, efficiency, empowerment, engagement,
and positive energy with our customers and communities; between
our grantee and delegate/partner agencies; and, amongst one
another. CFS continues educating children, supporting parents,
developing professionals, and impacting lives and communities.
