PLANNING FOR SCHOOL READINESS
Head Start is a child-focused program that increases school readiness and social
competence in young children. The Head Start School Readiness Plan supports
the development of foundational skills in infants, toddlers, and preschool-age
children that are essential for children to be successful in school.

• California Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP 2015) –
3 assessment periods (2 periods for programs operating less than 90 days)
• Ages & Stages Questionnaire
Child Assessments • Kindergarten Student Entrance Profile (KSEP) –
Administered administered to kindergarten-eligible children
• Individual & group lesson plans developed & adjusted with each
assessment period
• Program level & Grantee level School Readiness Goals developed in five
Analysis of Child central domains: (1) Approaches to Learning, (2) Social & Emotional
& Family
